Even though he is only twelve years of age, Tyler Befus is mature beyond his years.  Tyler manned the AFFTA booth at both the Denver and San Mateo ISE shows.  While at the booth, Tyler demonstrated and taught fly tying techniques, and when on the casting pond, Tyler taught fly casting to youth and adults.  According to AFFTA President Gary Berlin, “Because of his age and size, Tyler easily connects with youth anglers.  In fact, there would be a line of kids at the entrance to the casting pond waiting to take a casting lesson from Tyler.  However, adults seemed a bit hesitant to take a free lesson from such a youthful expert.  However, once Tyler was able to converse with the adult caster, the intimidation soon disappeared.”
