The National Capital Chapter of Trout Unlimited (NCC-TU) will hold its 35th Annual National Capital Angling Show

The National Capital Chapter of Trout Unlimited (NCC-TU) will hold its 35th Annual National Capital Angling Show on Saturday March 13, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Maryland. 

 

Our headliner this year will be Jack Dennis, legendary Jackson Hole Wyoming fly fishing guide, author, and fly tyer, speaking on "20 Places You Should Fly Fish Before You Die," "How to Become A Better Streamer Fly Fisherman," and "European Nymph Fishing:  Hot New Techniques."  Also featured are Dave Rothrock on "Trout Stream Insects and Fly Designs to Match,” Wendell "Underwater Ozzie" Ozefovich on "Trout Feeding Lies,” humorist Bill Heavey, on "Fly Fishing Misadventures," journalist Ed Gray, on “Flashes and Shadows: Caught in the Flow While Casting Toward Fish,” Dr. artist C.D. Clarke on Atlantic salmon or tropical saltwater fishing, Bob Bachman, on Modern Trout Management Concepts and Practices, Charlie Gougeon, "Trout and Bass Fishing Oppportunities in Maryland, Brandon White, on "Fishing the Chesapeake Through the Seasons With Fly and Light Tackle,"   Dusty Wissmath, on "Getting Started in Fly Fishing.” 

There will also be fly-casting and fly-tying clinics and demonstrations for all experience levels, from beginner to seasoned veteran, an author’s table, fishing guides, representatives of tackle manufacturers, fly shops, and sister nonprofit organizations in the conservation community.  Several raffles and a silent auction offer the chance to win a Florida Dream Trip fishing trip, an ODC Classic pontoon boat, fishing trips, clothing, equipment, and more. 

 

Admission is $10.00; children 16 and under are free. Net proceeds from the Show are donated for local watershed restoration, conservation education, and conservation projects. Georgetown Preparatory School is located on 10900 Rockville Pike (Rte. 355) at Strathmore Avenue in North Bethesda, MD 20852, near the Capital Beltway, I-495, and a short distance from the Metro Red Line’s Grosvenor-Strathmore Station. You can take public transportation to the 35th Annual National Capital Angling Show:  Take the Metro Red Line to Grosvenor-Strathmore Station.  Use Rockville Pike station exit, and walk north on Rockville Pike (Rte. 355) one and a half long blocks to traffic light at Strathmore Avenue.  Turn left into entrance to Georgetown Preparatory School.  Follow Angling Show signs to Hanley Athletic Center.

 

Driving Directions: From I-495 Capital Beltway Outer Loop (from Baltimore and points east) – Exit  34 Rockville Pike (Rte. 355) north toward Rockville.  Go 1 mile north on Rockville Pike to traffic signal at Strathmore Avenue.  Use left turn lane and turn left into entrance to Georgetown Preparatory School.  Stay right and follow Angling Show signs to Hanley Athletic Center.

 

From I-495 Capital Beltway Inner Loop (from Virginia and points west) – Exit 36 Old Georgetown Road (Rte. 187).  Turn left off exit ramp onto Old Georgetown Road going North.  Go about 1.5 miles and turn right onto Tuckerman Lane.  Go about 2 miles on Tuckerman Lane and turn left onto Rockville Pike (Rte. 355) going north.  Go to first traffic light at Strathmore Avenue, and use left turn lane to turn left into Georgetown Preparatory School entrance.  Stay right and follow Angling Show signs to Hanley Athletic Center.

 

From Northwest Washington, DC - Wisconsin Ave. (Rte. 355) North to Bethesda, MD.  Continue north through downtown Bethesda.  Stay on Rte. 355 as Wisconsin Avenue becomes Rockville Pike.  After crossing over Capital Beltway I-495, go about 1 mile to traffic light at Strathmore Avenue, and use left turn lane to turn left into Georgetown Preparatory School entrance.  Stay right and follow Angling Show signs to Hanley Athletic Center.

 

There is plenty of free parking at Georgetown Preparatory School.
