Dan Clark with Bowline Consulting, Inc. (dfclark@bowlineinc.com - 913-226-0362) is seeking assistance.
With the decision of Alaska to outlaw the use of felt sole wading boots, and other states beginning to consider similar legislation as a partial remedy for the issue of invasive species, manufacturers are moving to other materials and providing incentives to fly fishermen to purchase boots that promote clean angling. As the effort progresses, what will become of all the old boots? It would be ironic if this environmental effort ended up generating a lot of solid waste to contribute to the already full landfills.
I am leading an effort to collect and re-sole the boots so that they can be used to supply worthwhile programs such as casting for a cure, and programs for youth. We will collect the boots and either re-sole them for a fee and return them to the owner or, donate the boots to a fly fishing based charity. Proceeds will go toward the programs that use fly fishing as a basis for charities, and for programs that promote fly fishing and clean angling.
